Cooler for 4790k

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Considering the options at the website, a Kotetsu would be more appropriate: http://xtremmedia.com/?q=product/view/familia/54/fp/43

So i want to buy a cooler for my new 4790k, i do not really need it, since the stock heatsink keeps the cpu under 75, but it can get a bit noisy. These are the coolers i am considering:

-http://xtremmedia.com/Base_Thermalright_HR_01_K8.html With my own fans (NF-F12)

-http://xtremmedia.com/?q=product/view/familia/43 With my own fans (NF-F12)

-Or a simple 212 evo

I would just buy evo 212, it is almost dead silent with the stock fan...

The supplied fan can be quite noisy under heavy CPU loads.

Please, don't go for the 212 evo, it's an old cooler that really needs to be removed from sale and replaced. Instead, a be quiet pure rock or shadow rock slim would do a better job whilst being quieter as well, eliminating the need for noctua fans, unless you are still annoyed with the noise even then.

I have seen this review: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1443-page8.html And the say that the Kotetsu performs better than the Mugen Max( 140mm fan). Have you tested it? it seems to be a very good cooler

Yeah, I bought a Kotetsu just to play with it. It does perform like the tests would indicate.

Thanks for the recommendation, keeps my cpu under 58 while playing and with the lowest Rpm setting for the fan, this is the real 212 evo killer

Eh, it's usually a bit more than the 212 Evo in the US. In the UK, the Kotetsu's pricing is much more similar to he 212 Evo's.
