KVM switch?

Hi everyone,

 

So I have two monitors, a keyboard, some speakers (3.5mm) and a mouse which I want to use on my computer and occasionally with my laptop. Basically I want to connect my peripherals and monitor to something which I can then hook up to either my computer or my laptop, without having to unplug and plug all my cables. Would that be a kvm, or are there cheaper solutions? The kvm's that I see resemble something that I look like, but most only have usb or only video output instead of both.

KVMs generally take multiple inputs (2,4,8,etc) for Keyboard, Video and Mouse (hence the name) and link them together to a single display, keyboard and mouse, with some offering optional audio support

Since you want to hook up 2 monitors, you're not going to find anything that would work with your requirements.

Could just get two kvms and only hook up the second monitor to the second one.

A decent and reliable KVM is at least $50. Having two would create a blackhole of a clusterfuck. Would be easier to just get a longer desk and have the laptop next to everything else
