G3258 bottleneck with GPU. Quad-Core for games are a thing these day

I have about this exact PC and I honestly don't see any bottlenecks (OC'd to 4GHz). Tried GTA 5 and Witcher 3 on med-high (if you're expecting Ultra, you're completely wrong, especially for $500) and runs 40fps-70fps with few stutters in some scenes.

Yeah, but I might as well aim for the fences, either way the best band for your buck is around 600-800 bucks anyway, originally I was only going to post the joke but I wanted to see how low I could go with the i5

If you don't include an SSD you can get pretty far but I find those to be a must-have these days

Are you serious? You obviously haven't watched Linus' video on the G3258 vs the 5960x. A decently OC'd G3258 can hold it's own against more expensive chips. Quad cores for games are becoming a thing, yes, but it's not like every single game out there (or even a significant percentage of them) require a quad core. Only newer AAA titles and quite frankly if you're building a budget system you shouldn't expect AAA titles to run like a dream. It would absolutely not bottleneck something like a 950 in any game that doesn't require a quad core.

 

Besides that, sticking to actually being below $500

BTW. That's a terrible power supply choice. For 10$ more you can have a much better unit.

I chose the 950 over the R9380 because I went for Intel, And wanted a processor that wasn't about to be outdated.

And I wanted a ITX system, not a Larger Micro ATX

I'm not a big fan of Austin Evans, but this video is fairy straight to the point.

 

Also, tell me what games besides new AAA titles that don't run at all on a dual-core.

 

And also, the Corsair CX series is not recommended for high end systems. This is not a high end system. Hell even my friend has an i7 4790k with a GTX 780 and he's been running his Corsair CX600 for years now, no issues. Even Linus has included this unit in his budget builds.

BTW. That's a terrible power supply choice. For 10$ more you can have a much better unit.
