Hey guys, this is not my problem, but a problem of one of my friends. He can't play Battlefield 3 for several months. When he tried it today with F@H medium to put some load on the system, he got stuck on "Joining server" screen for 5 minutes. In the past months he got several diffirent results, probably changed by updates and patches. At first, in December 2012, he got a BSOD right after he got into the game. Then Battlelog normally started the game, but Origin didn't launch it, and now this. What could be causing this issue?

He will (hopefully) register here in a few hours.

His specs (not complete, he will provide more info):

i5 2400 no OC

MSI GTX580

Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB

Is his system stable? Can he play other games? Does he have the latest drivers? Has he tried reinstalling the game? Is his punkbuster up to date? What's his social security number?

His system is very stable, he can play all the other games including Crysis 3, he tried reinstalling the game and Origin several times, gotta ask him about other things.

I think reinstalling Windows would help but I'm pretty sure he won't do it.

I think he still has the old 32bit Windows installed, could that be the issue?

Firstly open origin, right click on the battlefield3 picture and then repair. This will do some jazz you dont need to know anything about, has worked for many people. Also go into control panel/programs and delete the battlelog plugin, then restart pc, and redownload and install the plugin and try running it again.

Other things it could be. your firewall, try disabling it and if it works then you know know, enable it and allow bf3 through it manually. Many people have issues with punbkbuster, but tbh i do not think this is your issue.

Also sometimes reinstalling origin works for some people, make sure origin is also allowed thought the firewall.

Post back if none of this works.

None of this worked, but he has 2 copies of windows installed, 32-bit, which he used first, and 64-bit, which he got afterwards and didn't uninstall the old one. Could that potentially be the issue? He is a bit reclutant to uninstall it because he is lazy and doesn't want to do stuff that won't surely help him.

yes that could be a problem if he installed them on the same partition but i would recomend installing 64bit since it has more that 4gb of ram and becus its a prety good system but has he tried the "standard" tests like memtest and afterburner

I am guessing it worked on the 32bit, and he copied bf3 over to 64 bit and now its not working?

He copied it to 64-bit, it worked for a few months, then he started getting that BSOD after game launch and now the game doesn't even launch.

If you don't figure it out, the battlelog forums are a good place to ask because other people with the same issue are likely to post it there.

Could you ask him to give you the BSOD dump files if they're still saved so we can check if it's connected. C:\Windows\Minidump (whole folder preferably) in a compressed archive to the forum.

The files are no longer there.

at this point I think unless you will have someone teamviewer to his computer, he will need to uninstall and delete both bf3 and origin, redownload, and reinstall.

He's done that like 5 times or so.
