It's a bitch. Don't bother. Just get a 360 controller with the wireless dongle and you'll be set with plug n' play.

If you like the Playstation controller layout I'd just get a DS4 and then you can use the DS4Windows for drivers and controller setup, much easier than setting up a PS3 controller: http://ds4windows.com/

I have an xb360 dongle, but dont feel like going under my table and going behind my desktop everytime I want to play games with a controller on my laptop.

I see. I still wonder why Sony locked down the ps3 controller so much, yet the DS4 works like a charm on everything.

If you want to use a PS3 controller you would have to do that anyway because AFAIK there isn't a wireless dongle for the PS3 controller so you would have to run it as wired.

You need a Bluetooth dongle or a chip on the mobo, then it will work as long as you get drivers with Bluetooth support.

Yeah I bought a DS4 specifically for emulation purposes and the controller with DS4Windows is detected as a Xbox 360 controller by pretty much everything that supports a X360 controller lol. Been playing Lego Star Wars with a DS4 and it's perfect haha.

 

I have a DS3 but I don't trust the MotionJoy software, looks absolutely like adware, so I put the idea off until the DS4 came out and people started supporting it.
