So I just got an SSD and now I want to make proper use of it. So I'm wondering, should I install Windows 10 on my HDD and then install all my games and whatever else onto the SSD? Or should I install windows on my SSD and move whatever files onto my HDD. I'm looking for the easiest and most conservative option. The SSD is 500GB and the HDD is 1TB.

That's a large SSD, however people usually put their operating system and any important things on the SSD and everything else on a hard drive. Games will boot pretty fast on a regular hard drive, but the triple A games are definitely worth it on the SSD.

unplug your HDD

plug in your SSD

install windows on the SSD

put the HDD back in and move anything you want to keep on the SSD

format the HDD

put whatever you want to keep on the HDD back, such as documents or whatever

if you want to keep games on the SSD that will depend on how large the SSD is

No, put your OS on the SSD if you want to take advantage of quicker boot times. You can always store your files (documents, pictures, videos, music, etc.) on your hard drive.

OS on SSD - this is essential.

Frequently used programs and games should go on SSD, while infrequently used programs/games/any files should go on HDD.

Almost as cool as my temps

My experience is that OS & software on SSD, rest on HDD (eg. WD black) will net you 90% of the performance boost you are after.

Certain games like GTAV see a boost on an SSD, many others don't.

If you can fit everything on an SSD perfect, otherwise prioritise titles you play frequently or need the performance boost.
