Windows XP Repair Help

PixlRabt

Hello Internets,

So I made a post earlier today about a problem with booting windows on an old pc, and have since resolved to use the repair function from a copy of windows xp in order to return my computer to normal. Can anyone help me with this? I have a copy of Windows XP Professional version 2002, can somebody tell me exactly what I need to do step by step?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I haven't used repair on winxp though have installed it 20 times. With win7 its pretty straight foward thing with mouse controlled ui. Googleing found this nice graphical guide for complete repair http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/instxprepair1_5.htm . Its bit messy on text side, so maybe someone else will do clean edit of process.

I used Windows XP repair. Never worked.. ended up breaking more things than actually repairing... but that's my experience (3 or 4 times). Also, takes way more time than format and re-install, from what I remember.. but it's been ages ago.
