I am sorely tempted to overclock my system and cpu.

I downloaded overdrive but also have an Oclock option on my AMd catalyst software.

Ive read up some on the possible downfalls , like disturbance to the cpu and even the Gpu.

Does anyone have any real idea , regardless of warranty associated problems what problems this could cause .

I really would like to notch it up by a few minor scales just to see if it will improve the modus of RPGs like Mad Max and Skyrim.

Im using a lower Res than i was which has helped the drive of the game , frame rate etc but im tempted to try and improve with a little overclocking particularly as the software has this function available......

Please don't write a post in this style.

I tried to make sense of what you've written and sadly failed for most things.

I think that in terms of warranty stuff, some companies will void your warranty if you overclock outright, and some are more lenient, but most definitely won't be happy if you push huge voltages through things or different BIOSes on graphics cards.

More voltage == more power drawn == more heat, meaning hotter components/better cooling needed.

Also please don't overclock the CPU with OverDrive, please overclock that in the BIOS itself.

Sig under construction.

Don't overclock with software.... It's better to overclock in the BIOS itself. As far as warranty, I think it voids the warranty if you do overclock. If you do overclock, your putting in more voltage in the cpu, which means more heat output so you need a better cooling solution.

When posting something like this I would recommend to include your system specs. Mad Max and Skyrim aren't really demanding games so you shouldn't have any issues with running them at 60 FPS if you have a half decent rig.

Overclocking the GPU can give you a couple more FPS but if you already hitting 60 FPS on a 60Hz monitor you will not see any improvements anyway because a 60Hz monitor is only able to display 60 FPS.

The biggest drawback with overclocking is it can generate more heat and if you don't have adequate cooling and airflow, your GPU might start throttling when under load.
