Very low gpu clocks when using simultaneously with onboard graphics

So i have two monitors. One that uses my onboard (auxiliary) and another one that uses my video card (main). When i plug both displays into my 970, the gpu clock does not go below 899mhz. Plug the secondary one into the onboard graphics, then it goes as low as 135mhz. The clock does go up when it needs to however. How could this be?

it should go down when not being used... dont know why it doesn't when both are on gpu. dont worry about it tho

The gpu works harder when pushing more than one display.
