An hour or so ago i posted a topic about buying a new motherboard after the previous one died...

What i forgot about even think about is - a mobo dying can kill a CPU - no?

Is there any way to test a CPU without a motherboard? Wouldnt want to order a new motherboard if the CPU is dead..

As for the motherboard - The reason why the RMA was cancelled was due to bent socket pins (LGA 1150) - they probably did it, because, hell, i know how to match a triangle to another one, but if i closely inspect the motherboard, i cannot see any marks that it actually fried, maybe it was just faulty..

Worst case scenario i can ask a mate of mine to test it with his Mobo, but he lives quite a bit away..

I dont think there is a way without using another motherboard to check it. I would have your buddy check it for you, with his board.

Oh i forgot also about this - the mobo died, i tried testing everything - my friend had order the mobo because it was on massive sales, but nothing else, so i took all other components with me and went to test if it wasnt the faulty thing then and it worked on his board

So after the RMA sent me back my mobo, and as i thought it was a new i tried it then, and obviously it didnt work, i put it away - so could you assume that if you try a cpu that works with a dead mobo - it probably wont kill it - no? If the mobo was to kill the CPU it would be at the same moment when the mobo dies, no?

There really isn't a way to test a CPU without a MOBO. Unless there's some specific hardware out there for that (I never looked into it) you're just going to have to test your luck.

You could phone Intel and ask them to lend you their tester for newly made chips ;)
