Because bent pins can be repaired.

It's kind of like why people buy broken computers. For parts. Only it's on a smaller level. Things like capacitors and VRM heatsinks and shit

Well if the only problem is bent pins, people probably think they can fix it (which is not totally unbelievable). Z77 boards are still worth quite a bit, so if you can fix it you made this 25 GBP motherboard worth like 60 GBP at least. 

Or they just want the motherboard's shielding/'armor'

On older boards most of the time capacitors go bad so all they need to do is replace them, also (especially) with new boards sometimes the caps are the problem and the board was shorted out do to many reasons so sometimes you can get lucky buy just throwing them in the oven for a re-flow or by resetting the CMOS which a lot of people don't try doing after there board shorts out.

If the motherboard is non-fixable, people can salvage capacitors, chips, crystals, LEDs, USB plugs, connectors, hell some people go through the trouble to collect the GOLD used in the motherboards.
