This is the build I have right now:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570k 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card

Case: Corsair 500R Black ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply

When I get it I don't plan on overclocking right away but I do plan on doing it down the line. I want to get the H100i to cool my 3570k. What motherboard would you recommend that I get which has USB 3.0, Firewire support (it's on the chassis I chose), will allow me to overclock my CPU and possibly allow me to add a second GTX670 down the road (however if this makes a huge price difference in the motherboard then I prefer not to do it). I'm still learning about computer components and the motherboards are one thing I just can't grasp. I would prefer a Gigabyte motherboard, however if there is a good one that fits my needs for a good price from a different manufacturer then I would rather go with that. I want to keep it in the $80-$100 price range if that's possible.

Thanks :)

Hmm.. first off, Firewire? Really? :) Who uses that.. hehe... just because it is on chassis, doesn't mean you have to plug it in...

Overclocking - you cannot skimp on the mobo if you want to overclock - you need a board able to handle the voltage and have good phase handling. Also, for PCI-e 3 you are looking at newer boards. I would definately say based on that you should be looking in the $150-$200 minimum range... I love my MSI Z77A-GD65

Your PSU - 500W will be maxed out, esp if overclocking, with that CPU and GPU. If you are planning to add another 670 down the road, look at a 650W minimum to start.

I will be dualbooting with a hackintosh (I need OSX for school so I thought I might as well) and figured a lot of mac stuff comes in firewire so I thought since it's there why not! :P

Alright, I have to do what I have to do even if that means going over what I want.. I rather pay up now than pay less and regret it later and end up paying more.. So would you recommend your MSI Z77A-GD65? I was kind of hoping for something made by Gigabyte but if you think this is better than something I can get from Gigabyte then that's more important.

About my PSU, I guess I'll be going with a Corsair Professional 650W then. I had my eye on it but didn't think I would need to go that high and thought I would save some money there!

The GD65 is a very good board for OCing. FireWire for Apple...Isn't that thunderboltz thing suppose to be coming around soon? I'll suggest most of the p8z77-v boards, I think one or two of them have TB onboard and the most of the others have a TB header for a TB card. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not the greatest with Hackintoshes but I can tell you for a fact that the bulk of hardware will either not work or have problems with certain versions of OSX. Hopefully someone with a fair bit of knowledge on the ins and outs of Hackintoshes will magically appear but for now have a look at this.

My z77-gd65 is beast, if you can put the money towards that you won't be disappointed :)

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it all! So from what I understand, this is the best thing for me to go with right now:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard: MSI Z77A-GD65 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card

Case: Corsair 500R Black ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply: Corsair Professional 650W

It bumped my price by over $200 but I'd rather do it right the first time around then have to buy a whole new board and pay more down the line. Any improvements or is that fine?

Id go for a D3H or UD3H, theyre great boards to start but if your building a Hackintosh Gigabyte Boards are the best to use as most of the features will work naively in OSX
