I have Logitech x-530 speakers which are amazing, but rear speakers don't work when configured as they should be...

I have realtek hd audio manager and when I set it up to Front, Center, Rear speaker config.. REAR SPEAKERS never work no matter what I do (expect when testing them), and I literally did everything.. only thing that makes them work is setting both front & rear speakers as front speakers.. then they work but the problem is that I can't control front-rear loudness... I have a 7.1 motherboard so that's not the problem.. all speakers work.. I do have speaker fill checked... it doesn't matter where I plug stuff in because I can configure any port to anything.. only thing that matters is what i configure the plugged in cable to..

Black Cable -> Rear speakers -> Configured as Front

Orange/Pink Cable -> Center/Sub -> Configured as sub/center -> works even when plugged out -.-

Green Cable -> Front -> Configured as Front

does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I've read all possible tut's and guides, watched all videos on the internet but still no solution for me :'( .. always problems with surround speakers -.-

I'm not quite sure what exactly the problem is. If the rear speakers are working during testing, then why do you think there is a problem?

The typical issue with surround sound is the source. Make sure the source you are using and the program you are using to run it are surround sound compatible. For example, Chrome does not support surround sound. Netflix does not support surround sound through *any* browser... only through the Windows 8 or 10 app. Music is generally only in two speakers.

Most games make use of rear speakers, but not generally very well.

Could you explain how you are trying to use the rear speakers in regular use?

idk if id consider those speakers as sounding amazing. But as for the surround issues, like said above, first make sure your source is 5.1 and then make sure you have all the outputs configured the right way

I know chrome does not support surround sound.. I'm trying it out in various media players: bs player, gom audio player. In games I don't really care about surround.. I just want to listen music in surround.. I did configure everything correctly.. Rear speakers never work expect when I test them in Realted HD Audio manager.. Does it really matter if the song is stereo or 5.1? I mean I don't have any idea where to download 5.1 music?

What's the point of 5.1 if you can't use it?

a good 2.1 set up will ALWAYS beat even the most expensive 5.1 set ups.... you only got 2 ears... get 2 speakers and let your brain do the surround calculations as it always does. I build a sound bar with 2-4" speakers off 20w and it BLOWS AWAY my uncles $1000 sony 5.1 surround.

Thats the problem. Music is not 5.1.

Music is generaly stereo.

This is completly incorrect.

Aren't media players suppoused to do something so stereo music works on rear speakers as well? Just like I did by setting rear speakers to front.. I mean I don't see any difference in quality or loudness in rear speakers. You guys talk about 5.1 like it's nuclear science.. You need this you need that, is this set to this is this set to that? Is it so complicated to send sound to 4 speakers?

Music is stereo, that's all there is to it. If sound were to come out of rear, it would be the same as what comes from front

So here I will mention that your source is the issue. Although this is a very general statement... it's generally accurate... only movies and games support surround sound. The rear speakers are not commonly used in other applications... especially music. Nearly all modern music is in 2 channels (left and right).

Modern receivers provide features that up-mix two channel to five or more speakers. It is known as digital signal processing, or DSP. For whatever reason, Microsoft and sound card manufacturers do not provide DSP on PCs.

The only way to get music from the rear speakers is to split the front signal and connect it to the front and rear speakers.

As you very elegantly said in your original post... "always problems with surround speakers -.-"

I'm not sure I understand. If you spend $500 on each front speaker, how would it reduce the quality or experience if you add additional $500 speakers?

Also, human ears cannot pretend there is noise coming from behind. Higher frequencies are very directional.

$1,000 on a Sony surround sound? *shakes my head* Words ain't even been invtend yet to describe my anger
