My friend gave me a subwoofer 12v DC as im soon to be getting a new car but i dont have one at the moment, I wanted to test the subwoofer so I used a molex connector 12v DC to power it, using a multimeter i can see that the amp has power but the power LED is not on, there are 2 and neither of them are on. there is also a remote input which is meant to have a cable from the cars head unit plugged into it however i do not have a head unit, i was wondering if anyone knows why its not powering on and if it is the remote what can i use as a substitute?

You need to get a small piece of wire and run 12v dc through it to turn on the amp (I think constantly as well). The remote is there so when the amp is connected to the battery, it is not constantly on (so it does not drain). And when the car turns on, 12v runs through the remote wire from the head unit.

I only know because I am half way doing it to my car  :P

NOTE: double check the voltage and amperage for the remote wire. I just did a quick Google of that.
