I am planning to run a second system in another room and want to avoid running it on my wireless and just wanted to know thoughts and experiences of using powerline adapters. I have been looking at these on amazon and want to know if they are worth it or not.

Yeah I would say powerline is a good option they work well as long as the wiring in the home isn't super old or has a super long run since it depends on that for the ethernet connection.

They're generally better than WiFi where WiFi coverage is garbage. Where you have fantastic coverage they're generally on-par or worse than WiFi. But if you had fantastic WiFi coverage you wouldn't be looking at alternatives so if you're asking it's probably worth getting. That's the best way to look at it. Just don't expect miracles.

How old is your house? older houses tend to get slower speeds.

My house is not that old so wiring should be ok, I think I will get a cheep one first to run some tests before getting something that is capable of the higher speeds.

I tend to be in the camp of cheaper = much worse. Mine ran me something around $70, and they worked very well. But then I moved next to my router, and that just surpassed the power line completely. It's definitely a good option, and a handy thing to have.
