Monitor Sizes and Resolutions.

Fictionvl

Hello, I had this thought in my head for a while

So, I personally prefer <25" monitors, simply my personal preference.

but here's the thing, I don't know if there are 24" 4K monitors, but do you think that if they exist 24" 4K monitors are too small?

also is 27" too big for 1080p? I think 27" monitors are meant for 1440p and 4k,. but just a thought

here's me simplifying everything

is 24" too small for 4k? is 27" too big for 1080p?

what is the sweet spot for 4k? and what is the sweet spot for 1080p?

IMO 27" is too big for 1080p at a normal viewing distance ~75cm but consequently you wont be able to see the individual pixels on a 24" 4k but I think it would be the smallest I would go. I use a 24" 1920 x 1200 and it is perfect for me, but 27" at 1440p works just as well. 4k doesn't really have an upper bound for size though. Just my opinion though

It's all personal preference, my friend uses an HD tv as his computer screen and he is fine. If you like your current monitor look for the same PPI (pixels per inch)

I can't recommend any monitors unfortunately that have an aspect ratio of 16:9. Especially since I purchased my first ultrawide monitor that has an aspect ratio of 21:9.

My monitor http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-25UM57-Ultrawide-Monitor-2560x1080/dp/B010JRGIR2/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1452813924&sr=1-1&keywords=ultrawide+monitor

As for 4k, I really don't think it's necessary AT ALL. 1080p is large enough as it is for productivity. For gaming and watching movies, 4k would be nice though there are no movies in 4k unless you're counting online streaming.  As for gaming, 4k certainly is nice but I think it has too many problems.

And honestly even then, more pixels does not make it more immersive. I would go for 3 1080p monitors over 1 4k anyday only because it is more immersive and it is for that reason that I love full 1080p ultrawide monitors as you get the best of BOTH worlds.

- cheap

- better support  - though some games do have scaling issues, most evident that I know of is CS GO. It isn't too much of a problem though. But it definately needs to be fixed and isn't perfect. And when you encounter issues like this, just temporarily go back down to 16:9. I'd also like to note that the ultrawide community has free software available to fix the most common problems in games.

- avoids the need of 2 monitors while working
