Micro Center Return/Exchange Policy Question

Dive5885

So my question is would Micro Center Accept a exchange after the 30 day period?

I just now found out the Asus R9 390/390X don't have Crossfire Support and that's pretty much a deal breaker for me.

I did purchase the 2 year protection plan for the gpu so would it be possible to exchange it for a MSI R9 390?

What would happen to the 2 year warranty if they did let me exchange it?

Does it transfer to the new card or do I lose it?

If anyone happens to know please let me know!

Thanks!

My MicroCenter will accept an exchange after 30 days, but YMMV.  As for the warranty, it will not transfer. They should refund that one and then you can repurchase on the new device

According to the Asus Rep I talked to he said the card has no crossfire support.

I also asked if a BIOS update can fix that and he also said no.

So it could be possible depending on the store?

Weird never heard of that before. Doesn't make much sense imo.

Can you link us to the card you have. I doubt their 390/x don't support CFX. Must be some level 0 tech, who has no idea what they're talking about. 390/x do not have CFX bridges, it's internal.

Even the BYO PC specialists would know that ALL 390x's have CFX support. That's BS. It says it on the box lol. Look at your box. Clearance is a different thing.

Well you will still have to buy another card to run CFX. So buy the same one you have, and if it does not work, go back and return it. The Asus rep you talking to right away is level 1. The higher rep you reach, the more technical it gets.

Yep. But if you do decide to buy a second one you definitely need a PSU upgrade. A second one's not really worth it but if you wan 60fps min at 1440p then you'll need 2. For 1080p then 1 is fine. 4k even 3 390s is not quite enough given scaling.

Yeah I have a 1050w backup Psu for crossfire.

I was thinking 2 390s would be good for 1440p & 4K

Yeah. Excellent for 1440p. But just about cutting it for 4k. There's also gonna be a lot of heat so make sure you have plenty of exhaust fans and a custom fan curve on the 390s.
