I'd go for a R9 390 for its better performance (although debatable at 1080p) and lower price.

Sorry, but NVIDIA loses at this tier.

hello i am a new builder and i am trying to buy a graphics card and i need some help.

i don't care about fps just keep it a better then 30 fps and i am happy.

i play gta 5, cs:go, and  just cause 3. so gtx 970 or r9 390. ps i like nvidia.

    thank you

Just go with the R9 390. Similar performance at 1080p, Better performance at higher resolutions. It will likely age better having the extra 4.5GB of VRAM as well, I used to game when 1GB VRAM was plenty on 1080p  and that's definitely not the case anymore so even if you're not upgrading your monitor any time soon at least you'll have the headroom.

This question is asked all the time here so i'm probably just repeating what most people say but i never bother to read or reply to those posts. Oh and in DX12 games the R9 390 may or may not completely shit on the GTX 970 from what we've seen so far.

dont name the topic like that

thats how you gonna start a war :D

you need more than 30fps? @ 1080p or higher?

amd is nice for lower budget and outperforms the 970 ( i am member of team green )

read bob jim s lineup in my signature :P

you could use nvidia for the shadowplay or cuda if you need it but amd s streaming should be nice too
