M.2 can also be PCIe.

M.2 can act as a pci ssd or a sata one.

Which is faster?

 

M.2 SATA SSDs are essentially, well... SATA drives with a different connector, meaning that they won't be faster than any other SATA drive.

 

M.2 PCI-E SSDs are speed demons that will eat SATA drives for breakfast, but you're not going to notice that performance in real world use scenarios, unless you REALLY need that bandwidth.
