RGB LED case lighting

Go to solution Solved by Philcat101,

That is because RGB white light can be unbalanced mix when comparing to pure white. This isn't a dealbreaker for a thing as nice as the Hue+ though

I am looking into building a new pc, and am set on getting the nzxt hue+

(if you know another product that is better that doesn't go into a 5 1/4 drive bay, or have a manual control then I'd like to know)

I hear that the hue's white lighting isn't very nice, and I may want to use white lights sometimes, should I buy the hue+ and a cheap white led strip then change which one is plugged in if I what to use solid white, or should I just get the hue+?

Most 'white' light that you get from LED strips is a combination of Red, Green, and Blue (with the exception of RGBW strips). Red, Green, and Blue have values between 0-255 ( if using DMX, 255 being 100%), but at 100% each colour has a difference luminescence meaning that 'white' (which is 100% on every colour) may not be white.

If you want white lights, I recommending getting a white LED strip at about 6000k.

As said if your only wanting white light getting strictly white LED's or RGBW lights which have a separate white chip is your best bet since RGB produces a dirty or colored white since it require all those three to create it.

If you don't mind some tinkering and a bit of wiring there are RGBW lights out there that work really well for this situation, as of right now there aren't directly made PC based kits yet.

I really like the combustibility of the hue+, and I'm willing to pay for it, so I think that I will just use the hue, and no plain white led strip, Thanks for the suggestion!
