The sound is very sharp, but I'm not sure how far it travels. My new MX Brown keyboard is already louder than a membrane, but not loud enough for my family to complain. My computer is centered in the living room, so you'd imagine people are close to the keyboard.

Just got my Das Keyboard 4 Ultimate Clicky today. Travel is decent, but not too far and the click is so satisfying.

The G710 is fine. It comes with o-rings installed so they're not quite as loud as most other stock keyboards using cherry mx blue switches. Unless you also like the Clack of bottoming out... that can actually be much louder than the click of the blue switch.

iv never used mechanical keyboard. i went ahead and ordered corsair k70 mx blues. if i dont like it ill just ship them back for free and get a new one lol. iv been listening alot of high quality audio videos of mx blues , i love the clicky click. i might buy o-rings for that so i can experiment with them.

My Tesoro Durandal with MX Brown switches was loud enough for my gf to hear through 2 doors and a hallway. Rubber O-rings improved this quite a bit though.

Also depends on how hard you type/bottom out the switch.

darn... there are two options: there is something severely wrong with your gf's ears, or then mechanical keyboards are pretty loud. im thinking that im gonna get o rings aswell, judging by youtube video comparisons they help alot(im going to get mx blues). i heard that you can master the "skill" to only press down enough to key to register, so you dont have to bottom out the switch

Yeah, in theory you can press just the right amount, but i just enjoy bottoming the keys out.

Rubber rings help, but they don't eliminate the clackering noise when you hammer the switch down. :P

who cares...
