970 to 980 is not worth it. I'd either get a second 970 or save up for a 980 ti.

Hey bro,

If I was you I would not get SLI 970's unless water cooled because when 2 cards are In SLI or crossfire they share the heat with each other and dramatically lower the proformace for both of the cards. I would save up and get a 980 Ti because going from a 970 to 980 won't do too much performance wise.

Hope this helped :D

going 2 970's isnt quite worth it if you have to change your motherboard and psu plus spend moire money for another 970, its more worth it to buy a gtx 980ti. and i wouldnt suggest getting just a 980 as an upgrade since its not a big upgrade, it would be worth it to get another 970 if you had a better motherboard and psu since its gonna be more powerful than a 980ti but some games arent good with sli yet so 980 ti it is.

also how many watts do u have in your computer?

and for the sli thing u said, there would be an increase in heat between the two cards but he could just get blower styler cards which makes the heat exaust out of the case instead of under the gpu but if u have a big enough case and have enough fans 2 970s in sli wouldnt decrease in performance since 2 970s run better than one 980ti and ase long as ur gpu doesnt pass 85 you're fine
