Earlier today I was playing Skyrim, I had a mod that recreated LOTR battles, there was about 20 or more NPCs fighting. Out of nowhere, my screen goes black and the sound loops making me need to restart my PC.

The CPU and GPU temps idle about 50-64 degrees and RAM usage is somewhere like 4000-5000MB. Someone said my PSU might be the source of hardware problems but I really have no idea and Im hoping someone could help me. I'll link my specs below

CPU - Intel Core i7 4770k
GPU - GTX 770
MOBO - G1 Sniper 5
PSU - Strike-X 800W

Is this the first time you've encountered an error? It may have possibly just run out of memory.

However there are loads of other possibilities too, is there any other situation a similar failure occurs? It could be something as easy as a driver update

It happened multiple times since yesterday, The temps didn't go above 50-60 degrees but the PC couldn't handle 20-30 NPCs, Even tried with lowest settings in Skyrim and still happend

I think this might be a software error then. Is it only happening with this mod?

If anything else runs fine, its the Mod. Either the Mod itself is buggy or its not compatible with other Mods.

It happens with games such as Risen, CSGO and other games that don't require strong GPU/CPUs

Check your Windows Event Manager after the Crash.

Sorry this might be a stupid question but where do I check in the Event Manager after crash? Also I'll play Skyrim later and let you know what Event Manager says if the game crashes.

Kernel Power 41 is in most cases, when the PC crashed or stoped working and Windows didnt had enough time to generate a protocoll.

Make a double klick on the application error. A new window open and you see the error code with timeframe and event id.

Klick the Timeframe your Crash happened and make a Picture again.

having multiple sound drivers installed can cause this.

soundblaster...... check for updates and patches. they used to have something called alchemy that helped with some cards.

disable or uninstall the nvidia ones. don't let windows reinstall them.

no realtek ( onboard ) installed?

Nope, no realtek onboard installed.

So should I just remove the nvidia ones and keep the Sound Blaster Recon3Di?

EDIT: Should I disable or fully uninstall the nvidia drivers?

either one. i have several installed on my computer/s.. but have run across conflicts in the past. your scenario sounds like that. you can always goback and reinstall or reenable. it could be a simple fix. then we can move on from there.

Hi.

Is it normal my sound will sound different after removing those two drivers?

Also, I played a bit yesterday, spawned 20 NPCs and didn't crash. I'll try other games and EDIT once I find out.

my sound blaster sounded different than onboard and different when i tried sound over hdmi. tbh i'd rather run a sound card but don't anymore. they always had deeped base and better sounding high/mids than "stock" at lower volume settings.

Is there anything I can do about surround sound? Whenever I go 3rd person, It sounds like im walking behind me and pulling weapons behind me and when I have my back to a NPC, it sounds really quiet and far away.

you're going to have to mess with it.

Hey, Im sorry for bothering you again but..

After disabling both of those Nvidia drivers, the sound is literally broken in some games.

In Skyrim, It sounds like surround and cuts off dialogues and breaks sound.

In CSGO, It sounds like its coming from a box, I can't explain it but it sounds worser than what it used to with all 3 drivers enabled.

Is this supposed to happen? Because if its supposed to be like that, Some games are unplayable.
