hey guys so ive had my system up and running for a couple of weeks, and ive had 2x Blue screen of deaths lately both while playing games. 1 Was While playing Dota 2 and once with Playing Payday 2.

My specs are

AX860i

Maximum VI Hero

4770k @stock with h100i (temps around 28-30 degrees idle)

2x8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133Mhz

Sapphire Radeon 7950

Samsung 840 Pro 256gb SSD

after i built my system i ran a 24Hr OCCT stress test and a 12HR AIDA64 stress test.. all was fine, no errors or crashes.

I havnt changed anything in the UEFI at all, its all set to optimal defaults are far is i know, just trying to figure out whats causing these BSOD's.

here is what i get.

I was planning to run memtest tonight but i thought i would ask you guys what you think? i think my memory is rated at 1.65v so im not sure if that could be causing a problem?

If it continues to fail, follow the instructions in the "Read before asking for help" thread (2nd pinned I think) and post the dump files from your computer in a compressed archive here. However, based on the info you pasted check your temps.

thanks for the advice, here is my dump file from the most recent crash.

OK, that dump blames your processor unfortunately. It's a machine check exception, which means that Windows detected a hardware error. It appears to have been noticed by the intel drivers.

check your temps, because they are the easiest to diagnose, and if they're fine, just try running prime 95 to test the stability. Your rig looks like it should have been overclocked, so reduce the clock, preferably back to stock.

thanks for your reply,

My cpu is currently not overclocked at all, i havnt touched anything in the UEFI since building it, my temps seems okay i think RealTemp GT shows idle cpu temps of around 28-31 degrees and no higher than 69 degrees when running OCCT stress test, i will try a Prime95 test overnight tonight. like i said above ive done a OCCT 24 hr test and a AIDA64 test for 12 hrs.

so i ran Prime95 overnight, everything seems okay, temps seems okay too.. whats my next step here guys?

Should i keep stress testing? is that error 100% a CPU related issue or could it be my motherboard?

Has it happened again recently or does it appear to have stopped? And your CPU's new, right? If so, I guess you can probably send it back because if it's not OCed, it's their fault. It does happen that you get an error which is only apparent in games, and stress tests don't make it crash, although it's rare.

yes it has happened again since, and its only happened while playing games, i even ran another prime95 test overnight last night with no problems.

and yea the computer has only been built for a couple of weeks cpu is brand new, do you think i should call up the store and tell them whats up?

Yeah you should be able to return it to the place where you bought it (or intel if not) if it's crashing. Also, I think the dump files were referring to the cache, so I think there's a setting on p95 where it fits in the L2 cache (small FFT?), so if you haven't tried that, it would be a good test. But they should accept it due to crashing in games anyway.

First, try a version of Linux that can be run with a live CD, so no installation is required. You can try Ubuntu. Stress your PC under Ubuntu and see if the problem continues. This is just to know if it is hardware or software related.

If it still does BSOD, then try your hardware on another system piece by piece. Also try running your system with another PSU.

If it doesn't BSOD under Linux, then there is a software problem. If you can, I would recommend reinstalling the OS. Otherwise try uninstalling programs one by one and see if it solves your issues. I ought to mention that you should try uninstalling only programs that are running when the BSOD occures.

Hope I helped.

hmm ok, im not farmilliar with any unix os's at all, is there much difference between stress testing in linux compared to windows?

also yeah its kinda strange how it only happens while playing games, i might try another PSU if i can find one laying around.

also might try to reformat with bare minimum software installed and see if i can make it crash in a game.

so i have kind of been putting up with this problem for a week or two now because ive been awfully busy, i had time for a game of dota 2 last night so i was playing and about 30 mins into the game i got another BSOD.

and i noticed something that i hadnt noticed before, a rather loud coil - whine like noise was happening after the BSOD/reboot, which does NOT happen when simply shutting down/rebooting my computer normally.

could this indicate perhaps my h100i playing up?

i tried to take my side panel off to determine exactly where the noise was coming from but unfortunately i wasn't quick enough, so i have it permanently off now, so if it happens again i can suss it out.
