Steam Link VS Laptop

What would be the advantages to using a steam link if you already own a laptop since you can stream to the laptop the same as you can to a steam link (or at least thats how i see it)

If you want to play on a TV without having to connect your laptop with HDMI and a power cable every time. That's why I bought it, but if you don't mind moving cables around I see no reason to buy one.
