You dont need to do anything at all with the drive since you can delete and repartition it directly in the windows installer. Basically when it asks where to install windows, erase all the partitions on the drive and then windows will be able to do the rest for you.

When in doubt, re-format.

There is an option during setup to delete the partitions on the HDD, then create new ones.

Awesome, thanks guys. OS installations aren't my strong suit *yet* so still learning new things all the time. 

If you're doing OS installs often enough for it to become your strong suit, you're probably doing something wrong. (Unless somebody is paying you to do it, of course.)

 

There's not much to learn. Boot off the install media, follow the prompts from whatever installer you are using and at some point or other, select the destination to install to.
