GTX 780

vinchy

Hi guys I need some help or should I say suggestion or inputs from ypu. I currently have a Palit Gtx 780 Reference 3GB that was bought years ago I guess 2013. Now someone is offering his Rog Gtx 760 4GB that was bought last 2015 only plus some cash to my current gpu. Now i want to have future propfing for the upcoming games. I also thought of selling it and get a Gtx 960 4gb version but some reviews / forums that the Gtx 780 has more future proof than a Gtx 960 4gb version. I cant push my budget if ever I sell my Gtx 780 to get a Gtx 970 because im saving for a Logitech G710+ :) Thanks Guys!

Probably might keep it but how can i prevent defects or problems coming since its already a two and half yr old card? Im thinking of replacing its thermal heatpads and redpinng the thermal paste. but noticed it in idle only running at 36-38c

GTX 780 is more powerful and much better than a GTX 960

And the GTX 970 is only slightly faster than the 780 and certainly not worth the upgrade.

Worthy upgrade to a GTX 780 would be a GTX 980 (even that ain't worth your money IMHO) / GTX 980ti / Titan X

these cards last 10 years easily don't worry about it just enjoy it and have fun it will end up in a box in a closet or a shelf somewhere down the road and will still be in working condition...you just think too much...enjoy your life.

not sure about that, i wouldnt pop the cooler personally...if you do not need to pop it in order to mod the logo then i guess it's fine...

At 3GB of vram the 780 is right there at the 1080p sweet spot right now. And its performance is in between the 960 and 970, though much closer to the 970 than the 960. You would be getting absolutely hosed in those trades. The only GPU it makes any sense to upgrade to from a 780 would be a 980 Ti.
