295x2 problems

Go to solution Solved by Kupfury,

So the problem has been solved. I placed the card in the one lower pci slot, redid drivers and re-enabled then disabled ULPS. One of those things worked so we are all good. Thanks all for the help.

hey guys I just bought a 295x2 off of ebay and I just hooked it up. I am having a problem in which only one of the gpu cores actually works. It loads up and does benchmarks whilst the other one just sits at 0%. Even during a benchmark when one gpu is at 100%. The other gpu shows up on gpu-z but it says that crossfire is disabled. I have downloaded all the most recent drivers and I am not even given the option to disable or enable crossfire is the catalyst control center.. I have a hx 850i PSU and am using separate plugs for power so I don't think power is the issue. Anyways any help would be appreciated thanks a lot

Some games don't support Crossfire, (right?)  Also, I've heard that how crossfire works is one card will ramp up to full, and then the other will start ramping up too, if necessary.  If this game doesn't support it, this is normal behaviour (can someone confirm?)

just ran fifa 16 and csgo, it never goes over 0%

Those are not exactly demanding enough to warrant the use of the second core. Load up Heaven/Valley benchmark at 4k/1440p to actually give it something to do.

Without the option to enable it (which he says he can't find), it just wont work.

OP - Reinstall drivers yet?

Expanded every single Control Panel and had a look?

thats the thing though, the power requirements are so strange that one of the rails might be just under but still run or something

With the HX850i? Probably not.

Wait, the 295X2 has full 290X cores with full 2816 shader cores?!

Yep. In fact, it's two factory overclocked 290Xs slapped onto a PCB with a liquid cooler.

Why wasn't I aware of this?! I'm like the biggest Hawaii architecture fan and I thought it had 290 cores...

This is why the REFERENCE design is with an AIO cooler. At least they did that right. And funny enough, the 295x2 will run better than 2 290x's because of thermals.

When in doubt, re-format.
