System:

Asus Maximus V Z77

CPU: i7-3770K(not overclocked yet)

PSU: OCZ Fatality 3 1000W, Corsair CXM 750W

GPU: MSI Nvidia GTX 780Ti TwinFrozer OC Edition

RAM: G.Skill Ares 16GB 1866

STORAGE: Samsung EVO SSD, OCZ AGILITY 3 SSD

My system apparently eats PSU's... At least thats what I want to see if I can confirm. My original 1000W OCZ PSU seemed to be the cause of constant crash restart issues, so I replaced it with a much more conservative 750W PSU. System has worked great for about a year but it suddenly started freezing in the middle of games, anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes depending on the load. Games I have been playing are Fallout 4, RUST, 7 Days To Die. Crashing first occurred last week after playing around 2 - 3 hours of 7D2D, and now nothing goes more than 5 minutes.

I have verified the HDD integrity and the RAM. No issues found. Temperatures were all monitored and are well within reasonable limits leading up to crashes.

While troubleshooting I found an interesting thing that I want to run by the people.

The MoB has both an 8 pin 12V connector and a 4 pin 12V connector for my CPU power.

If I use the 8 pin power, the system freezes hard in game and I have to do a hard boot. Sometimes the system gives me an unable to boot message when trying to restart, but goes away after I try the second boot attempt.

If I use the 4 pin, the games will loose sound first, then I might hear windows components disconnect in the system background, I loose network connection and if I don't exit the game, after about 10 seconds the system will freeze, otherwise it stays on with no sound or network.

I'm guessing it's the PSU even though it's only a little over a year old... but thats around the time my first one started acting poorly also.

What does everyone else think?

CX psu's are not meant for high end systems.

Even so that's not much load on it to die so quickly

Get a UPS, sounds like your psus may be getting dirty power

A possibility

Hm that's true indeed, although I would still recommend to @KhalDrago changing it to a good psu from the link in my sig

You are aware that the CX 750 is a half decent psu as it's based upon a different one from all of the rest

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!
