hd 7970 ghz or msi gtx 760 hawk

lioton2000

7970->7950->780->770->760

(7970&7950 overclocked)

Sorry I can't form a full reply to this, but I need to go and turn off my bullshit alarm before my neighbours get angry.

Honestly, you couldn't be much more wrong...

Edit: Just saw your correction, that makes some more sense :P

An overclocked 7950 barely outperforms an overclocked GTX 760 at $20 dollars more.

I seriously do not understand all the 7950 fanboy'ism in here...

I think everyone is obsessed with the price/performance ratio of the 7950 and, therefore, shunning every other card into oblivion.

and how does the 7970 compare to the gtx 770

The 7970 still beats the 770 but its its close. Honestly if I were you I would just wait until the 9000 series comes out unless you need to buy right now.

Also you should check out gpuboss.com Its what I used to compare the 7970 and 770. I rely on them to compare lots cards.

Depends what resolution your gaming at. 760 for 1080p gaming or 7970 for 1440p gaming.

if you overclock an 7950 or 7970 it's on par with an 780 at normal clock speed

What do you mean barely ?

My HD 7950 is overclocked 1150/1650 at 1,25 volts and its faster than a 7970 ghz, so i don't understand what you mean with it being not as fast.

Did you know that nvidia locks your voltage? And you can only go as high as cold the card is, so if you have a waterblock on nvida card you can get the highest potetntial overclock.

Doesn't have anything with fanboyism to do its just a pretty solid card, and i wished nvidia would too do a Never Settle bundle. But when the 7970ghz he mentioned is so cheap its a no brainer to to with it.

What i don't get how you can say that the 780 is so much faster than a HD7970 its roughly 6-12 fps more, i would rather spend more cash and get a titan instead.

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K 4,6GHZ OC MB: MSI Mpower z77  RAM: Kingston Genesis 1600Mhz CL9 16GB

Really ? I thought they based their score off of the cards efficiency, noise level, and benchmarks they got using passmark, 3D mark 11, and other benchmarks.

not its clock speeds because obviously a lower clock on GK110 or GK104 could beat a higher clock speed on one of AMDs lesser architectures.

Wrong.

Many Radeon 7950 or 7970 are voltage-locked as well, lol. It's PCB and bios dependant.

Get a GTX 760 HAWK and you can overvoltage and overclock that all day long as long as you can draw the heat and can face the terrible effect of overvoltaging your GPU (that applies to Radeon as well).

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

If the 7970 is voltage unlocked it should definetely compare to the 770 *cough* 680. If not the awesome ocing potential goes to waste The 760 hawk is a good card though, expensive as f here though

Yeah I prefer benchmarks where I can see the framerates in games and not compare all the stuff that doesn't matter much

How could you get confused with that, the 7950 beats the 760 so clearly its faster older brother will too.

Show me your documentation that proves your point. $20 dollars more for a card that gets you 4-6fps more when both are fully overclocked isn't as much of a difference you're making out of it.

But I guess everyone thinks the 7950 beats out the 760 with 12 fps in all games just by looking at the Tomb Raider comparison alone.

There is a pretty big difference across the board

also if you count in the never settle forever bundle, its a way better deal than the 760

This benchmark is not correct. It's comparing voltage unlocked 7950 & 7970 to voltage locked GTX cards... That's freakin amusing man, you really follow this video OCing? How do you know if overvoltaged OC-ed GTX 760 HAWK wouldn't be faster than 7950 (it IS faster than 7950 stock)?

No, i meant that there is GTX 760 or 770 unlocked so why not get those and OC them? Here GTX 760 HAWK is same price with Radeon 7950, i would be interested what would happen if somebody actually overclocked GTX 760 with overvoltage and compared that to OC-d radeon 7950... Make it fair people.

Here normal 7950s and 760s are about 260 and the 760 hawk is around 300. My numbers are in euros though
