Looking for a Gaming Monitor With...

Go to solution Solved by ImBleu,

I personally went with an LG Ultrawide Monitor (The 29inch LG 29ub67-b to be particular) purely because 21:9 is an amazing investment and certainly helps me when I want to game while having a chrome tab / skype next to it. I also like LG's software allowing me to run my PS4 on half my screen with the other half being used for my PC, a nice touch. Suprisingly the PS4 actually manages to push 21:9 Ultrawide decently well and games like Destiny and DriveClub look amazing to me on it vs my 40ish Inch 1080p TV I used with my PS4 prior. 29inch, Ultrawide, IPS and loads of fun.

Hey y'all,

I'm having trouble finding a monitor that has an IPS panel, 60Hz (Because I am using a console and I am not cool enough to join the PC Master Race just yet), 27" screen size and el budget is approx. $300.

Also is there a big difference between 5ms and 1ms considering the console only puts out 60Hz? (I can assume that it will make a difference at 120Hz or 144Hz).

I chose an IPS because I want to be able to watch movies and enjoy games at their finest. But I am still open to all suggestions.

This is gonna be my first leap from a gaming on a TV to a monitor and I want to know I got the right one.

What kind of dollars are you using?

The difference between 1ms and 5ms is pretty much negligible for response times.

5ms is good enough, i can't find the difference between my old monitor which is at 5ms and my new monitor at 1ms, go for an IPS panel! :D

It's good but I wouldn't spend that much more money for it over the AOC.

Damn it, I think more research is needed before I buy. I wanted an ultrawide curved monitor but most decent ones are out of my price range. I am gonna wait for more responses.

I'd say jump at it. It's so much easier to do basically anything on a 21:9 monitor and every single game I've tried has worked flawlessly at 21:9. A Bonus is that movies don't have black bars on the top and bottom as it stretches itself out to the full height of my monitor as well.

Some of LG's 29inch Ultrawides are not overly expensive and definitely an investment I would do again if I was buying a more premium monitor. It's only 1080p but I cant complain as it has 2x HDMI, a DP port, moderately okay speakers built in (but I use external ones anyway) and really pushes up my productivity to the level where I can barely stand using a 4:3 or 16:9 screen on my laptops. I also love the standard VESA 100x100 mount on the back which made it a breeze to wallmount.
