If u got nothing to keep then no.

But I would recommend if you really must get W10, that u make sure u turn of all the hidden data recording and transfers (AKA 'spyware').

Ether follow a guide or use something like 'O&O ShutUp 10'.

I don't have anything to keep because my games are through steam and thats like all i have. But are there any special files that might be good to save?

Depending on how many games you have installed and what your internet is like, you may want to make local backups of your steam library so that you can re-install them all without having to re-download them all.

When in doubt, re-format.

If your game dont' use Steam clouds, you want to backup your saved games. The saved games files are placed in various location. Search on the web for each game you want to keep the saved game files, on where they are saved, and back it up, and restore them once Windows 10 is finished installed, at the exact same spot.

If you're upgrading from windows 7/8 it should keep everything the way it was.

He specified fresh install, but yes, the upgrade usually works well with keeping everything in place.

When in doubt, re-format.
