Helping my friend with his computer. A pretty large budget but needs a new gpu, cpu, mb, ram. Has a 650 psu but I think we should upgrade that so for the future he won't have to. He also wants liquid cooling but he wants the H100i so that 100 from the budget right there. What should I get him?

It depends on the model of the PSU if he should upgrade it. This will suffice:

If your friend doesn't have a SSD, he should probably get one.

Yes he has a case and hard drives I don't know what his psu is but I figured we should upgrade it to the corsair 860 I have it and it's amazing works great. Now why did you go with the 6600k over the 4790k?

The reason he didn't pick one is because the 4790K will just eat the budget up for a better GPU. The i5 6600K will do better in gaming with something like 980Ti rather than having a i7 4790K with a Fury or 390 to keep within the budget. Also, the difference is very minimal unless you're playing a CPU reliant game like ARMA III.

The 860 is overkill unless you're planning to SLI. Just grab a 650W PSU instead or try to find out what model his PSU is and he can save money if it's decent.

Because you dont need an i7 for gaming, and skylake CPUs use ddr4 for upgrade ability. I picked the r9 fury(non x), because its better then a 980, and a 980ti would just cost more and I don't even know the resolution your playing at, so I gave you the cheapest option that would perform extremely well, and gave left over budget for a case, storage, PSU, monitor, mechanical keyboard, mouse, or anything else that would be nice to have.
