If it's just your monitor that has it and no one else's you can RMA it. If everyone that owns one is reporting the same thing they can't fix it.

Might as well save future troubles and RMA it now. If it's a common thing then they might refuse your RMA

Ouch.... Asus RMA's and quality control sucks. I have this one shitty $100 1080p monitor from them. It was artifacting and lead me to thinking that every GPU I had was defective and lead to my Titan X. I then bought a new one on Amazon and returned the old one (wanted to bypass their RMA) and it had a dead pixel. You should do the same and hope for the best. Buy a new one from Amazon and return the old one in the box as "defective" so that they don't charge you.

How bad is the backlight bleed? Every monitor deals with it at one degree or another. If it's particularly bad, I would attempt to RMA it. However, if it's only slightly troubling, then you're likely just dealing with what everyone else deals with.

I'm seriously thinking of doing this. Do I have to wait until the new one arrives before I ship back the one I have now?

I didn't ask for the Titan X nor pay for it. I actually had two 1080p monitors, still do. I first had a $240 Dell IPS touchscreen monitor. A year later I bought my friend's Asus so that I could have decent response times. I got the Titan X in June and the Acer monitor I have now in Sept. I use the other monitors with my HTPC and TV. It works as a very light gaming rig and plays movies.
