DS4 controller on The Crew (PC)

Hello guys! I have a little problem. I played The Crew on pc with a Dualshock4 controller, but it doesn't work properly anymore.

A while back the controller was just working fine (with TC and other games) and it got detected by Windows 10 as an Xbox controller (which is normal), but now I have to set the right settings myself and a lot of things do not work as before. It still works with other games on my pc, but just not with The Crew.

Does anyone know what's going on? I really want to play The Crew with a controller instead of keyboard and mouse.

As far as I'm aware, you can use motionjoy drivers and/or better ds3 tool to make  a ds4 work like a ds3. There are other tools for ds4 too, one's called DS4 to xintput wrapper or something I think. I just down own a ds4 myself, haven't seen a reason to buy one so I'm not sure

I can use the controller without software. I was using DS4Tool before, but now I don't have to.

Better to use Xbox controllers as they have full support with Windows.
