Anyone here have tried making a mini aircon using Peltier Modules?

Are they worthy of giving a shot? And how much kw/h do they consume?

Peltier is a way to transfer heat not to disperse it, you still need a heatsink, it's just another step.

Don't even think about using peltiers. For large scale projects whey are way to inefficient.

If you like to cool 10 watts they are fine bur an AC you need a lot of cooling perrformance like 1kw. To reach that you need about 2kw of electricity and you have to get rid of 3kw heat somehow.

Mineral oil and 40 kg aluminium heat sinks are a perfect combination: 73 cores and a Titan X, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Oil

They are hugely inefficient.

Don't bother with Peltiers.

Useful for small things like mini dehumidifiers. But not for full scale aircons.

Mini aircon ..possibly, but u'd have to ensure the hot side of the peltier is vented away from where u want the cool air.

Thanks a lot. I'll take your words. If they're inefficient then they are not worth a shot. Even tho I think building an AC from them would be fun.
