[Quiet] Mechanical Keyboard?

Go to solution Solved by KemoKa,

If i were to try get o rings, how loud would they be?

probably almost dead silent. O-rings get rid of the clack when you bottom out the key. It wouldn't be louder than a chiclet keyboard, certainly.

I'm looking into mech keyboards as they have a lot of good things running for them:

- They're durable

- They apparently feel great typing on

- They have a lot of customization options (ie. individual key backlight)

- They just plain look better

And their down sides: (There is something that they have that just plain doesn't work for me for multiple reasons; the highest reason being that I come from a chicklet keyboard on my laptop)

- They're considerably less portable

- More expensive

- They're loud.

Any mechanical keyboards that are not 10 keyless that would suit me? Rubber domes aren't too loud for me. Also, mx silent switches aren't that quiet and o rings aren't available where I am.

Should I get a mechanical keyboard? Or just get another chiclet.

If you play Geometry Dash, would you take the time to rate this demon? 14986973 ;3;

Brown switches are the most silent while still retaining a tactile bump. The bump is what you want for typing. Linear switches like reds and blacks are quieter but they aren't the best for typing since you don't ever know when you actuate the switch. There's no feedback.

Personally I like the feel of Cherry MX Blues and Greens, and I love the noise they make.

Once you go mechanical, you never go back. you'll walk through staples and best buy, tap on their keyboards, and a grimace will just appear on your face.

Oh, and that 50 million keystroke rating? Yeah, ignore that, it's just a tolerance rating. Many cherry MX keyboards will last far beyond that.

Ones I recommend would be Cooler Master Quickfire keyboards. pretty barebones but you could fight a zombie apocalypse with one of those things.
