I'm looking to put together a new build and would love some advice!

Budget:

I'm pretty flexible. I'd say max is 2K USD.

Purpose:

There's two main things I'll be doing with this build:

  1. Gaming - pretty much everything

  2. Software Development - a lot of the code I work with is parallel and most of the tools I use are heavily multi-threaded (lots of ram lots of cores hence the 5820K rather than a new skylake)

Side Quests:

Currently I'm rocking an Antec 1200 and because all of the fans are controlled by little knobs or switches I tend to leave them at max all the time. This is a little bit loud and annoying sometimes. I used to try to turn them down but I would forget to turn the fans back up to full power whenever I would start gaming or working and things would get a little bit hot so I just leave them on all the time.

I would like to get some fans that do a REALLY good job of keeping everything cool but that also work on a fan curve so that if the system is not really doing anything they will turn down to be very quiet. I really do need something that can keep the system cool under load as there are times when it's going to be sitting at max crunching stuff for hours.

I really have no idea how to best manage fans these days if I need a fan controller or if I could do it entirely through a motherboard.

Current Build (totally open to suggestions):

Motherboard: Asus X99-A ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard  ($239.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  (Purchased For $0.00)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Superclocked ACX Video Card  (Purchased For $0.00)
Case: Corsair 900D ATX Full Tower Case  ($338.90 @ Amazon)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM (64-bit)  ($173.86 @ Amazon)
Total: $1451.69
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Updated after suggestions:

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor  ($394.98 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler  ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Asus X99-A ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard  ($239.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  (Purchased For $0.00)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Superclocked ACX Video Card  (Purchased For $0.00)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM (64-bit)  ($173.86 @ Amazon)
Total: $1369.75
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Justifications:
CPU - as I said multi core is important to me I do a lot of things at once and a lot of parallel work. I don't think I would gain a lot by going to up the 5930X or 5960X
CPU Cooler - I want it to run on air. Open to suggestions here though.
Motherboard - Asus has a good reputation (as far as I know)
Memory- I think G Skill is still good? I'm pretty flexible here.
Storage - all stuff I already have laying around.
Video Card - See storage. I am not immediately interested in getting a new video card. I will be shortly after this build. I know that the 760 is getting old but for now it works fine.
Case - I an very open to suggestions here.
Power Supply - High rated gold psu. Open to change.

Things to add:
Fans - I was thinking something by Noctua or Corsaire as both have good products.
Fan Controller - maybe?

TLDR: advice about fans and general critique

Note I'm not looking for a system that is silent but rather a system where the fans do not run at 100% all of the time.

Thanks all!!

Looks ok to me

Join the Appleitionist cause! See spoiler below for answers to common questions that shouldn't be common!

Spoiler

Q: Do I have a virus?!
A: If you didn't click a sketchy email, haven't left your computer physically open to attack, haven't downloaded anything sketchy/free, know that your software hasn't been exploited in a new hack, then the answer is: probably not.

Q: What email/VPN should I use?
A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

Q: How can I stay anonymous on the (deep/dark) webzz???....

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

Q: What Linux distro is best for x y z?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

if you want it to be silent,

1. if you just want to get silent fans, get be quiet or noctua

2.get a be quiet case or a fractal r series if you want to take silence to the next level

3.mug is right about the gpu, but try and get a strix series to turn on fanless mode when you get a better gpu

4. cpu cooler ge ta be quiet, there are alot of opitions

So pretty much:

You don't need 32GB of RAM unless you're one of really rare cases, you can change it to 4x8GB kit if you want it.

Here you go, a very silent and efficient air cooler, a very silent and good looking case and two silent fans to add to it, besides that, I threw in a relatively silent and good GPU in there, despite you saying you don't need one. You're rocking a GTX 760, with that budget, it would be a waste to use such slow GPU (for today's standards), this 980Ti would improve the performance dramatically (that particular 980Ti turns off its fans when idle so it's silent af)

Spell quiet right you mug

I've shamed my family I'm sorry.

Sorry I should clear some things up. I saw 3 main things:

Ram - Yes I do need 32 GB I run virtual machines all day.

Video card - I'm going to be getting a better video card shortly. I do not want to include that in this purchase.

Silence - is not at all what I was looking for. I think air flow is more important than pure silent I don't mine being able to hear the fans when I'm actually using the computer the problem is that my current build is sitting with the fans always at 100%. This causes a problem when even if I'm just watching Netflix I can hear the fans rather loudly and that is the issue that I am trying to resolve.

So as far as changing the build. I see two cases that look good options at a lower price point:

Fractal Design Define XL R2 - I would be a little bit worried about air flow but I'm not sure if it would be an issue

Corsair Obsidian Series 750D Airflow Edition - looks really good to me.

So updated build:

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor  ($394.98 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler  ($89.99 @ Newegg)

Case: Corsair 750D Airflow Edition ATX Full Tower Case  ($153.98 @ Newegg)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM (64-bit)  ($173.86 @ Amazon)

Airflow shouldn't be a problem in this case.  :)
