How to easily compare products by using Skinflint.co.uk

Senzelian

I have seen many times that people simply want to compare two or more different products with each other. For me it was self-explanatory to visit Skinflint.co.uk (or Geizhals.de in Germany) and have a look there, because it makes the whole process very easy. But I think not everyone here knows Skinflint, especially not in the US and Canada.
Now, this isn't an advertisement for Skinflint. I generally just like the site a lot and it makes my life so much easier. I also recommend it especially to all Europeans that are buying hardware in Germany, Austria or the UK.

So let's begin with the two products I want to compare. In this case I use my monitor the LG 34UM95. There are currently two versions available, the UM95-P and UM95C-P. You don't need to know the specific model number as I'll show you in the next following steps. So let's first have a look at the site.

1. Find the right category

You could search for the product by using the seach bar, but this would not lead us to where we want to go, cause then you wouldn't be able to compare the products as easily as I will show you, but the search bar is a good place to start if you simply look for some information about a product. You can not only find prices and generall information, but also often reviews by popular sites and also user reviews.

But first we want to go to the right category. Monitors are obviously part of Hardware. So simply follow this route: Hardware -> Monitors -> LCD Displays

Now you should see the following on your display, which leads us into step

2. Find the products you're looking for

  • UMzIJOd.jpg

Here you can see all LCD-Displays that are currently still on the market and sold in europe in either Germany, Austria, Poland or the UK. If they're sold in one of those countrys, then they are usually also available in the US or Canada. As you can see there are quite a lot of displays listed here, 1484 at the moment.

Here you can also easily sort the displays you don't want to see out. You can see the most commonly used filters above like the manufacturer or the resolution. But there are also 36 additional filters. Simply click once to apply the filter you want and click again to remove the filter. You could find the display we're looking for - the LG 34UM95 - that way by simply adding the right filters or simply search for the monitor we want, which is what we are going to do.

You can see under the large search bar, which I showed you, another small search bar. Here you can search just like on the larger one for products, but this time dependend from the category you chose in the beginning, which is the "LCD-Display" category.

But why aren't you simply using the large search bar then? - Cause it's not gonna work! I don't know why it is like that, but Skinflint won't direct us to the page we want.
So now type in our model "34UM95". Don't make it too complicated. That is already enough to make sure we find the right model. After pressing enter we get to the third and last step:

3. Comparing the products

Now that we found the monitors we want - the aforementioned 34UM95-P and 34UM95C-P - we can compare them by checking both of the red marked boxes and click compare.
After you did that you should be able to see a nice overview of both products together with their specs listed:

Another tipp is to make a checkmark in one of the "Compare this product" (Dieses product vergleichen) boxes, so you can easily see the difference between both products.
The differences are marked yellow while similaritys are marked green.

And that's it.
I hope this was somewhat helpful. Hopefully you can find now easier the right products and make better decisions.
