Hey Guys!

So now my lovely new system is up and running all drivers etc up to date :)

Where do I start with overclocking?

Running:

I5 6600k

16gb corsair DDR4

Cooler Master Seidon 120V V2

Should I set my cooler to full speed constant?

Ryzen 9 7900X

Go into ur bios change ur CPU core voltage to 1.300v and use fixed mode for that. put the core ratio at 45x and don't touch anything else.

then go into ur OS and try lets say AIDA 64 (free trail) and do a stress test on all expect ur GPU and disks. if it still runs after 15-20 min U could try uping the multiplier by 1 at a time

Isn't 1.3v alot for the new skylake chips?

Not really. People usually stop at 1.35v for conservative, 1.4 for high, with 1.45 being the max recommended by intel (vs 1.35 for Haswell).

Still, I'd say 1.3v is the limit for a Seidon 120. More than that and it won't handle the heat under high load.

Should I set my cooler to full speed constant?

Go into BIOS

Find the CPU settings

Put in the core ratio as 42x (4.2Ghz at 100Mhz BCLK)

Dial in 1.25v

Save and Exit

Boot into Windows

Run AIDA64 for 20-30 mins

If it doesn't crash, well done.

If it crashes, either put in more voltage or just turn down the core ratio.

Should I leave my seidon 120v v2 at smart fan control or full speed constant?

Will full speed constant reduce the life as its rated at 70,000 hours which is pretty damn good

I would set a custom fan curve for the cooler. If you would like to know what to make it as then reply back :)

Sorry dude one last one should I disable turbo boost or leave enabled?

by the way is it overclocked as of right now? If so what is the core clock ratio and voltages?

And you can either leave it on or off. Your choice :) I personally like to leave it on.

I've been running all my favourite games for hours and not one single glitch... the highest temps i've seen have been about 79c but that was from prime 95 which uses AVX2 instruction sets which are notorious for causing heat output

if you ran p95 without a hitch , than you are probs stable. just a question though, which test did you run?

I'm concerned about temps being slightly higher than they should be with my seidon 120v cooler...

I'm wondering if ive used too much thermal paste....

Running at 4.4GHZ with Auto voltage :

According to HWmonitor Idle temps are : 34 - 40c

Heavy load gaming is about 62C

I'm seeing other people with idles of about 25c and heavy load of around 50c.....
