I'm pretty sure this program is legal. (correct me if I'm wrong) Also not sure if its updated to work with Windows 8 yet, worth a try though.

Few years ago I had a bunch of physical copies of MS office and a few downloaded copies with the product keys in the receipts, etc.   But I couldn't remember which of the many computers I installed with which keys..  So there is definitely legitimate reason for needing such a utility.  I forget which utility I used (was years ago), but I downloaded it onto a USB flash drive and ran it on each machine to find which keys were used on each computer.

Basically run the program. It will search your registry to find your key. Takes 30 seconds. I have to use it a lot when finding the key from a bad HDD to reinstall on a clients PC that doesn't have a COA. It's legal and worry free.
