They're not really bad, just not great. A mixture of lower quality construction than other units for similar prices. If you already have one, it's not something I would say needs replacing, it's just not a great choice if you're buying.

It's a low-cost design that gives off an impression that you are getting something high-end at first glance to the average user. It's a based on the FSP Aurum platform which had shown to be very efficient but offer very mediocre electrical performance. However, the 1000G1 is based on a different design and is much superior unit than the 650-750w counterpart.

If you can get it for a good price, it's may be a viable option if you are just looking for a highly efficient and fully modular, but often enough, you can find something better.

Why is EVGA 1 series PSU considered bad ?

Because, for the same price, the VASTLY superior EVGA GS/GQ/G2 (and even B2 if you're OK with a massive PSU that doesn't have the magic fan in the gold-rated models) are available. The G1 is based on a mediocre FSP platform.

Its on sale

If it's more than the price of an Antec HCG, Seasonic M12/G-series, EVGA GS/GQ/G2/B2, XFX anything then don't bother.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
