Dehumidifier questions?

So I recently bought a dehumidifier and I have been told that it is effective using it in hot seasons. I was never told anything of the cold seasons. Is there any benefits using the dehumidifier in the winter? Is there any problems using it in the winter?

Depends how cold it get usually in winter if things freeze, the weather is more dry and a humidifier is desired over a dehumidifier to give the air some moisture.

Dehumidifiers and Humidifiers do what they say...

Dehumidifiers remove moisture from the air, making it less humid, which makes hot summer temperatures more tolerable.

Humidifiers add moisture to the air, which can help with that "dry" feeling you get in colder temperatures.

 

There is also the moisture level of your house in general, rather than just personal comfort.

Having too high humidity in the winter can cause frost and/or condensation to build up on cold surfaces (glass, drafty doors/windows.)

Having too high humidity in the summer can cause increased discomfort and even damage wood surfaces by causing them to absorb too much moisture and warp.

Having too low humidity in the winter or summer can cause static buildup in the house.

 

No point in running a dehumidifier in the winter unless you have a problem with frost.

You do not want to use a De-Humidifer during winter months as the air tends to be naturally drier.

It is strongly suggested to use Humidifier during winter months to relieve congestion, keep your lungs moist etc........
