Depends on what game. More single-threaded games like MMOs will be better on the i3, while AAA titles will generally be better on the FX6. The difference isn't mind blowing though.

Wow. If this questions was asked a few months ago everyone would've said i3 and trash talked AMD. They are pretty much dead equal though, which I've been saying for a long time!

I went for the i3 so i could upgrade to a better chip down the road

i3. You'll have a way better upgrade path even if it performs the same. Plus the i3 won't bottleneck higher end GPUs nearly as much as the FX 6300.
