Hello all!

As you may know, the Steam Winter Sale is going to end in a few days and I still haven't bought anything yet. I pretty much exhausted all of my money and stuff on a basically brand new system (minus CPU and RAM) and I only have about $50 left. I want to buy an open world game with that money, and I was considering GTA V or Just Cause 3. I've always liked the open world gameplay and even though JC3 and GTAV are basically the same, GTA appeals to me more and I have no idea why. Here's a discussion question: which would you buy and why?

PC SETUP: | i5-4440 3.1 GHz | MSI Z97s Krait | EVGA GTX 970 | G.Skill Value 8GB | WDC Blue 500GB | NZXT S340

MOBILE SETUP: | Apple iPhone 6 | iOS 10b4 | Apple Watch Stainless Steel w/ Black Sport Band | WatchOS 3b4

Steam: chargerjake | Origin: chargerjake

I have both. GTA V and JC3 aren't basically the same. I would get GTA V instead of JC3 because of the multiplayer, and it also has a feel in which you can do almost anything (strip clubs, get high, etc) whilst JC3 is about "saving" the Island you're in, in a way.

Spoiler

GTA

TB sums up what I felt about JC perfectly

in Short: its the same objective pretty much over and over in similar looking places

it gives you all these wacky tools and physics

then throws 50,000,000 people at you to deal with so its incredibly impractical to do any of them

You end up just falling back on the dullest but most efficent option to deal with them which is guns, and the gun feel is absolutely nothing to get excited over.

Furthermore JC3 introduced those challenges....which are watered down and more dull then the main game and are pretty much necessary

i wouldn't say they're similar-looking. Montana for example is mostly tundra

no entirely impractical. in fact the amount of chaos thrown at you is pretty amusing

yeah you have to resort to guns a lot. luckily more forces show up to give you a harder time

the chaos challenges are terrible. the rest are okay. also they aren't necessary - i got through the game with little to no gears

GTA5 has better Graphics, Story, 3rd Person Shooter Mechanics and Driving Physics. The World looks more realistic and believable too.

JC3 has the bigger World, better Flying Physic and is the better choice if you just want go on a Rampage. The Story is generic and boring and the Missions get repetitive after a while. Its kind of a 3rd Person Version of Farcry4.

Both are ok Games.
