New here, here is my new build

Hey everyone, 

 

I am new to the forum and wanted to share my latest build. Let me know what you think! The theme was purple and red, but the purple looks more blue on camera than it really is. 

 

i7 6700K @ 4.5 Ghz with Corsair H110i GTX cooler

16 Gb Corsair 2400 mhz DDR4 

Gigabyte Z-170 Gaming 7 Mobo

EVGA GTX 960 FTW edition <--- I got this for free and am planning on getting the GTX 980 pascal equivalent. 

Corsair RM 850i PSU

Intel 535 240 gb OS drive

Samsung 850 evo 240 gb game drive

WD 1TB black storage drive

NZXT Hue+

Corsair 750D Airflow Edition.

Is that a 960 SSC? I got that on my 860K build!

True but AMD will make a new card to which ever of the two that is best you should go for!

ha ha.. It's gonna be a rebrand of Fury or Fury X as 490 or 490x in the future (if there is any R9 400 series coming). lol

Ya I got the GTX 960 for free from a friend who upgraded from SLI 960s to a single 980 ti since 2 960s in his rig didn't fit anymore. So I guess I'm borrowing it, but I can use it as long as I want since he has no use for it. So I can't sell it. As soon as pascal comes out though I will be buying one. Anyone have a lot of experience with the 6700k and overclocking? I can't seem to get higher than 4.6ghz without going over 1.4 volts to the chip.

My temps are great too. They never go over 60 c.

I hate to monday-morning quarterback but the top set of wiring harnesses coming out of your RM850i has a too tight of a bend radius and is chafing on a bunch of stuff. The bend radius on the back of the case (wHGSYjC.jpg) is kinked coming out of the grommet.

I recommend setting up a main raceway and routing branches off the main raceway (red path). The blue arrow is pointing to the kink.

So its been a while, but I thought I would post a little updated about my rig/setup since I said I would way back when. The new additions are an LG 34 inch ultrawide, corsair K70 RGB, Razer firefly mousepad and of course I finally updated my GPU to an EVGA GTX 1070 FTW edition. I was considering a GTX 1080, but seeing as I am in school and not really gaming so much anymore I figured I should probably compromise and save some money. Let me know what you guys think! I also kept the GTX 960 to drive the other monitors and do physx stuff. I know its probably a minimal improvement, but hey might as well.
