Looking up full blocks with back plates all Youtubers say they are heavy aluminum. My Strix 970 sags enough as it is and I have it propped up with a McDonalds straw. Does the increased weight have any impact on a single or SLi set up? Do the tubes connecting everything hold up the cards a bit? Is there a mount that people use for GPU sag?

The Strix cooler is heavier than most blocks iirc. It should actually do less to sag your card than the original cooler.

Wow really?? That's crazy! Thank you for sharing that info! you just pushed me in this direction further

Definitely wouldn't do it without the back plate, also a dual setup would likely sag a little less if they are connected with hard tubing or just directly with fittings and spacers. I can say that my R9 290X's total card weight is pretty hefty compared to the stock weight, don't know how it compares to yours though.

The total weight of all the water blocks and cards when holding the motherboard is insane :P

Most are not aluminum. Because aluminum plus other metals in loop equals corrosion issues.

Yep, everything of mine is Nickel plated Copper from EKWB. In fact everything in my water cooling setup is from EKWB down to the fans (except fan controller).

Water does add weight and the tubing might pull on the card a little bit too but yeah, Strix coolers were heavy.

I actually broke a PCI E slot on my ROG Hero VII so I am not happy with the weight of my current cards. Hard tubing looks like a better route. the stock cooler on the Strix is pretty bad and I thought all 970, 980s etc weighed the same..
