Skylake build HELP

MrBaker89

So in the new year I'll be building a new pc Based around these components:

i5 6600K

GTX 960

I have spent hours trying to work out what motherboard to go with....

Can anyone recommend a good mobo for overclocking and with some decent features and protection?

Ryzen 9 7900X

Asrock X670E PG Lightning

32GB G.Skill 6000mhz DDR5

1TB Samsung 990 Pro

Rdna 2 iGPU

Asus Z170-A for mid budget or MSI PC MATE for low budget.  If you're willing to pay for something like an MSI Z170 Gaming M7, get a cheaper Z170 motherboard and change the GPU to an R9 390.  At least change the 960 to an R9 380.

The 960 would be in the build for no more than a year at most before it gets swapped out for a better card but right now i'm more bothered about changing my x4 860k rig

But R9 390 is already a better card. You can have this card like for 3-4 years.

If you are using a GTX 960, You are not utilizing the i5 6600k. Just save your money and get practically the same exact performance. i5 4690 FTW
