Wireless or Wired?

So Basically I'm getting a PC soon, although I'm not sure whether to get a wireless dongle, or run an Ethernet cable from the modem, into the attic, then into my room. (My room is at the far end of the house) Would it be worth the effort?

Ethernet if you plan on gaming online. You can also look at Powerline.

Eh, I don't think he's THAT far away from the router, but that's also an option if he gets stuck in a tricky situation.

Powerline?

uses powerlines in your house (hence the name) to make a connection to your router, then the internet.  I can recommend a cheap, good kit if you want. apart from occasional ping spikes, it's basically running a more unstable ethernet connection to your computer.
