well so do it, although could you show me your power button cable because I have a feeling it is shorting on your case or something. If you have lights then it could be them shorting it. there is a host of ways it could happen.

If I plug it out, how do I plug it back in? Should I take a picture of the button for you?

no, take a photo of the button plug connected to the motherboard please.

Oh, connected to the motherboard? I thought you meant the button on the case, to plug that out. Well, the picture will be taken in just a moment.

Sorry, I went for a bike ride. Anyway, it looks like it is normal to me. Do you have any lights to brighten up you case?

Only the case LEDs.

Are you telling me you're plugging stuff in whilst it's on?

Shouldn't matter, all USB peripherals are hot pluggable.

What can happen is USB drivers don't load right away so Keyboard has to be PS/2 which requires a full power down boot if plugged in before it is recognised. But as most peripherals are USB these days there should be no issue plugging things in

Aside :-

I was having all sorts of booting issues as I'd left an MP3 player plugged in (system tried to boot from it [the system had 'seen' a file system]).  Removed it, normal boot, then plugged it in again all was fine.

Two motoes to live by   "Sometimes there are no shortcuts"

                                           "This too shall pass"

You were the first person to misinterpret my nooby phrases. I meant plugging fans and hard drives into the psu, and it is labeled "Peripherals" on the psu of where you plug it in, so that is what I call it.
